The colors crimson and yellow refer to the unit's original activation and service as an Ordnance-Maintenance organization. The lances and lance rest symbolize support of combat arms, and also to the home station of Lansing, Michigan.

The crest is that of the Michigan Army National Guard.
The coat of arms was originally approved on 20 Nov 1956. It was redesignated for the 107th Maintenance Battalion on 7 Aug 1964. On 5 Jun 1972 the coat of arms was cancelled. The insignia was reinstated and redesignated with symbolism updated for the 746th Maintenance Battalion.
